Eutopia Arci

In Galatina the Salento tour of -All In The Same Dish International Food Cinema Festival. Organized by Eutopia Arci and Salento km0. In via Montecassino 14 in Galatina. 8:00 pm

The Salentine tour of Tutti Nella Stesso Piatto International Festival of Cinema Food continues in Galatina, which for 10 years has been held in Trento to tell, through films and documentaries, crucial topics such as immigration, climate change, environmental exploitation and new slavery: - a Film and Food Festival to talk about our present, to focus on new phenomena that often escape official information, to reveal the complex reality of the agri-food system from North to South of the world -.
The exhibition, promoted by the Salento Km0 Association, the GAS Galatina Solidarity Purchase Group and by Eutopia Arci, proposes 4 appointments for the knowledge of global and local agro-food production dynamics, with the aim of reflecting on our eating habits and highlighting their effects on the environmental, social and economic level.
-All In the Same Tour Plate-Salento- also wants to be an opportunity to make known the experience of the GAS Galatina Solidarity Purchase Group, active every Thursday at the Arci Eutopia club and which offers the possibility of buying local food products from small producers of the ethical circuit of Salento Km0. For this reason, before each screening, participants will be offered an aperitif with vegetables, cereals and GAS cheeses.
The scheduled screenings:

March 28 -SEED: The Untold Story-: few things in the world are as miraculous and fundamental as the seeds, revered and guarded since the dawn of humanity. SEED: the Untold Story, follows the story of the untiring guardians of seeds, committed to protecting a food tradition of more than 12,000 years. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have been lost. In an age when multinationals specialized in agricultural biochemistry control most of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers and seed keepers of indigenous peoples wear the role of David against Goliath in an unequal battle to defend the future of our food. In a story that is both shocking and exciting at the same time, these tireless heroes manage to find a link that is now lost with our most jealously guarded resource and, therefore, to re-establish a culture that cannot be separated from seeds. SEED was attended by Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.

April 18 - Land Rush-: since 2009, in Africa, about 60 million hectares of land have been sold or rented to Western multinationals. 70% of acquisitions are concentrated in sub-Saharan Africa. It is not only large companies that purchase or rent African lands for long periods, but also individual states. Thanks to the complicity of rogue governments, local communities find themselves, from today to tomorrow, without the possibility of being able to live and work: without their land, which is the primary asset for the subsistence economy. A few years ago the world food system began to collapse and the rich countries began to buy and rent the fertile lands in the southern hemisphere, removing them from the local populations. This phenomenon has the name of Land Grabbing, literally - Land grabbing - and is transforming the world agricultural system into a worrying scenario. A beautiful film that shows in a very clear and direct way the various visions of the peasants, also considering alternative investment models with the involvement of local communities.

May 30 - Scanned Dreams - as a sort of dream journey, a simple jar of ravioli makes a journey of thousands of km. This story begins in Brazil, in one of the largest open pit mines in the world, with the labor of a single mother, and ends up in Finland, on the shelf of a grocery store. A magnificent photograph and an exciting soundtrack speak eloquently of our globalized and modern world, making us aware of the hundreds of invisible people who prepare the food we eat every day.

June 13 - Chocolate de Paz-: the documentary describes the resistance experience of the Peace Community of San José de Apartadò through a journey into the production process of their organic chocolate. From the seed to the product, cocoa is the common thread that leads us to know the stories of violence suffered by the Community and its struggle to remain neutral in the face of the Colombian conflict. This film offers a panorama of hope, proof that despite great difficulties it is possible to sow peace through human and economic relations. It invites us to rethink our relationship with food, to evaluate the efforts of those who produce it and to build bridges between the victims of armed conflict and other sectors of global civil society.
