In the proposed program we intend to tell, through instrumental and vocal passages, the historical period that saw the birth of great pilgrimages to universally recognized places of devotion, and the rapid spread of Marian worship in every part of Europe.
Pieces from the most important medieval collections such as the Laudario di Cortona (13th century), in the vernacular, the -Cantigas de Sancta Maria- will be performed, taken from a collection in Galleco-Portuguese language of over 400 songs commissioned by King Alfonso X of Castile (13th century), known as the Sage for the tolerance shown towards the various cultures and religions present in his kingdom. The program also includes excerpts from the Llibre Vermeille de Montserrat, a collection of songs dedicated to the Virgin venerated in the sanctuary of Montserrat in Catalonia, a destination for pilgrims from all over Europe for centuries.
