Memoria narrante

Biblioteca Pietro Siciliani

On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance, the Local Pact for Reading of Galatina and the Municipal Library P. Siciliani organize in collaboration with the Universal Civil Service In Reading 2018 NARRATIVE MEMORIES.

Starting from Monday 25th, a series of unpublished interviews (and not only) with men and women who lived directly and indirectly the years of imprisonment during the Second World War will be broadcast on the Facebook page of the local Pact. The organization of the initiative was coordinated by the Councilor for the Bibliomuseum Pole Cristina Dettù and by the librarian Maria Grazia Barnaba. The Day of Remembrance was established to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and, for this reason, the initiative of the local Pact for the reading of Galatina was born from the desire to collect testimonies on the territory from men and women of Galatina or neighboring countries to know and pass on to future generations the story of events that in some way also affected our lands and our grandparents. The work starts from the events that took place in S. Maria al Bagno, where, in the aftermath of the liberation of the inmates in the concentration camps, a refugee camp was set up for Jews coming mainly from Eastern Europe. The interviews were collected through amateur videos in such a way as to be able to share emotions, observe the expressions on their face while telling real stories, which are stories of their life. The next job will be to transform the interviews on paper into a collection of writings that will represent, in fact, narrative memories, over the years, not to forget. Specifically, Matilde Diso (A. Vallone Popular University) collected the testimony of Nino Congedo, while Edoardo Santoro's Rosanna Valletta (A. Vallone Popular University) about her father Nicola. Simona Ingrosso (Circolo Acli Noha) interviews Pina Vincenti and Anna Francesca Magnolo about Enzo Vincenti and Antonella De Luca about uncles Tina Sambati and Bussell. Sonia Venuti (Fidas Collemeto) collects an interview with Paolo Pisacane. There will also be video contributions by Giorè and the Liceo Scientifico A. Vallone di Galatina. -We have a duty not to forget - Councilor Dettù recalls - and this can only happen by knowing the story. Starting from our territory, from our countrymen who lived those years and through their voice to tell the story: this is the profound meaning of MEMORIE NARRANTI, which contains dramatically true words, which come from the depths of the heart and mind so as not to forget, in fact , to teach those who still do not know and to shake the conscience-.
