The Pizzica School of San Vito (site of San Vito dei Normanni) with the patronage of the Municipality of Galatina presents: OPEN DAY - Presentation of the course of pizzica in Galatina. In Piazza Alighieri, Palazzo della Cultura, Galatina. 6:00 pm

OPEN DAY - Presentation of the course of pizzica in Galatina (Lecce) and of the activities of the School of Pizzica of San Vito for the year 2019/2020.

The presentation will be by Fabrizio Nigro and in the same evening it will be possible to participate in the first free lesson as an approach to the teaching method of the Pinica School of San Vito.

WHO IS FABRIZIO NIGRO?

Fabrizio Nigro, dancer from San Vito dei Normanni, was born in 1983.
From an early age he discovered and cultivated his passion for music and dance. From 1989 to 2000 he attended the "Ginger Rogers" Dance School of Standard Dances, Unified Smooth and Latin American.

Beginning in the 2000s he approached the world of popular music and in 2002 he joined the ethnic-popular music group of San Vito dei Normanni -TARICATA-, as a pizzica dancer and tarantella, in shows and concerts throughout Italy.

He collaborates with associations, educational institutions, directors and producers for the realization of training projects and film productions as a dancer and depositary of the pizzica of San Vito and of the particular ritual of the pinch of water:
-Actor and dancer in the film "Amavate! Stories of pizziche and pizzicato" by Annamaria Gallone, a Kenzi Italia 2006 production;
- Choreographer of the musical -San Francesco d'Assisi and don Tonino Bello: flight companions- created by the fifth classes of the 1st Didactic Circle of San Vito dei Normanni - School year 2007/2008;
- Pizzica dancer guest in the Torino 2008 edition of Terra Madre Slow Food.

In 2014 and 2015 a collaboration with the "NEW EOS" Artistic-Literary Association of Carovigno begins for the coordination and performance of pinch courses.

Since 2015 he has worked as a dancer with the Maestro and ethnomusicologist Ambrogio Sparagna of the Italian Popular Orchestra of the Auditorium Parco della Musica and with the teacher, choreographer and researcher Francesca Trenta.
In October of the same year in Saragoza, Spain, he participated as a dancer in the show "La Jota y la Taranta" by the international choreographer Miguel Angel Berna.
Also in 2015 he joined the World Music Academy of Maestro Vincenzo Gagliani as a teacher of pizzica courses and from the same year he collaborated in the realization of editions of -Coreutica - International artistic residence on the Tarantellas of the Mediterranean-.

In 2016 he founded the Pizzica School of San Vito together with Vincenzo Gagliani, Franco Gagliani and Andrea De Siena carrying out a research and experimentation project in order to safeguard the peculiar value of the very rich heritage of local dance and to spread and rediscover the popular tradition -coreutica of the Alto Salento. He teaches permanently in San Vito dei Normanni and in neighboring cities and holds internships throughout Italy.

In 2018, during the IV Edition of the Coreutica Artistic Residence he collaborated for the realization of a show with Marcelo Bulgarelli, Brazilian director actor.

Also in 2018 he joined the corps de ballet of La Notte della Taranta, led by Master dancer and choreographer Massimiliano Volpini and is still involved in the "TarantaTour2018", the 2018/2019 Tour of the Popular Orchestra of La Notte della Taranta; in fact, he recently took part in Columbus Day in New York with the delegation of Puglia for the triumphal parade on 5th Avenue.

He has a degree in Law and is qualified to carry out legal professional activities.
